Choose a supplier against an issued specification, rather than choosing a section from a retailer’s price list. The supplier rankings, delivery promises and named-supplier prices previously shown on this page were not supported by dated quotations and have been removed.
Send the same enquiry to each stockholder
Include the full section designation and grade, quantity, cut length, fabrication drawing revision, coating requirements and delivery postcode. State whether unloading is required and describe restricted access. Attach the engineer’s drawing rather than translating its connections into an informal description.
Ask each supplier to identify substitutions explicitly. A similar-depth IPE or UC is not automatically equivalent to the specified UB. Compare the exact product against the manufacturer’s section data, with changes referred to the designer.
Compare the delivered order
Record material, cutting, holes, plates, finish, delivery and unloading as separate inclusions or exclusions. Confirm whether a rate is per metre, per kilogram or per fabricated item. Record VAT, quotation validity and the delivery date offered in writing. Our quote calculator accepts a net per-metre rate; convert a lump-sum quotation carefully before using it.
Before paying or ordering
Check the seller’s business details, the written specification, payment terms and the process for damaged or incorrect goods. Confirm that the delivery address can receive the full cut length. We have not independently tested or endorsed a particular supplier, and this page does not provide live stock or pricing.
